Racing for Recovery is a nonprofit organization aimed at preventing all forms of substance abuse by promoting a lifestyle of fitness and health to all those affected by addiction. They have multiple support group meeting throughout the week for individuals using themselves, and for friends and family members being affected. They also offer one-on-one counseling, run/walks, yoga, spirituality classes, and now a web portal you can listen in on if you cannot make it to a meeting. Bethany House is a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of St Francis of Sylvania, Ohio. The mission of Bethany House is to identify and respond to the ever-changing needs of Toledo-area domestic violence victims and their children by providing safe, long-term transitional shelter, time for physical, emotional and spiritual healing, social services in collaboration with other community organizations, recreational and educational opportunities, and community education about domestic violence. In addition to safe shelter from domestic violence, Bethany House’ has an Adult Program that provides advocacy and emotional support to reduce feelings of isolation, shame and guilt and help participants see themselves not as victims, but as survivors, a Youth Program that builds self-esteem and increases coping and safety skills, a Family Support Program that works with the non-offending parent to help them understand the impact of domestic violence on their children, and create a safe environment where children can talk about how they feel, and a Step↑Up Program that offers extended advocacy services to all survivors completing Bethany House’s shelter program so they can continue accessing resources to meet their basic needs and achieve their goals.

Sylvania Area Family Services, Inc. (SAFS) is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1967 by a coalition of concerned citizens living within the Huntington Farms neighborhood, and is organized to provide support services that strengthen families in the greater community. Currently, their programs include a Harvest Program: food distribution, Senior Government Commodities, Youth Diversion, and Summer Enrichment Camp. Their client families benefit from rent/utility assistance, adult computer education, health and wellness, nutrition, supplemental school supplies, summer enrichment camp, and our well-known Youth Diversion Program, all resulting in an impact on over 6,500 individuals – children and adults – per year.
